Contact Lens Problems: What Do They Have in Common?

Have you ever dislodged your soft contact lenses? Did you ever have complications from a prescription, such as irritation? Ever wear rigid gas permeable lenses and have airborne toxins seep through them?

Contact lens problems can mean serious side effects for first-time wearers. Optometrists stress the importance that any and all problems be reported to them at once, because such problems can lead to permanent vision damage, especially if something is fundamentally wrong with the prescription or lens.

One of the most common causes on the affects of wearing contacts comes from improperly putting them in your eyes. Make sure you read the instructions that come in the package as well as ask questions of other contacts wearers and even your optometrist if you are unsure. You could end up breaking the contact, stretching it or even lodging it improperly in your eye. The latter can be part of a painful removal process you'd rather avoid. Drug interactions, such as prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines can have a horrible affect on your eyes causing tears and other discharge. If this is the case, this discharge can dislodge your contacts or otherwise obscure your vision. If medications are causing the problem, you need to consult with both your physician and optometrist to come to a medium between both worlds. Many malpractice lawsuits can be avoided if people just use a little common sense and consult with their doctors immediately to circumvent a full-blown problem or one in the making.

Problems with contact lenses can be corrected if taken seriously and consulted with a doctor. Don't lose sight on your vision by being stubborn if a problem arises, you won't be sorry.
