Colours of Contact Lenses Vary According to Manufacturer

The colours of contact lenses used for cosmetic purposes offer a wide range to suit any taste. Plano lenses are available to those that do not need vision correction on their lenses. Check your state's laws before ordering colored lenses to see if you need to have a prescription. If you have lenses currently for astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness, you can have new lenses made in a choice of colors.

To view colored contacts, you can look at the different types of colors on various websites on the Internet. Some of the colors that are available for contact wearers include aqua, blue, green, gray, blue topaz, hazel, violet, amethyst, jade, brown, and amber. Certain blends can also be ordered.

There are four main tints of colored contact lenses: enhancement, color, visibility, and light filtering. Enhancement tints help bring out the true natural color of your eyes in a type of blend. People with light-colored eyes use enhancement tints to make their natural shades more vibrant. Full color tints are much deeper and make your eyes look much different. The strong colors can completely change your eyes appearance, up close or far away. Visibility tints are just light enough so that the user can see the lenses. They also help patients while they are applying them or taking them out.

Finally, sports players see differences between certain types of colors using light filtering contacts. For example, yellow tennis balls show up much clearer against a dark background with light-filtering contacts. If you are unsure which type of colored lenses to get for yourself, quiz your optometrist for his opinion.
